A great champagne is, first and foremost, a great wine!
And in Mesnil-sur-Oger, where Champagne Delamotte was founded in 1760, that is a golden rule. Delamotte is one of the five oldest Champagne houses because we respect traditions, are dedicated to taste, and craft our wines in the heart of the legendary Côte des Blancs.

Its History
Each with its own style. In Mesnil-sur-Oger (20%), acidity, purity, and chalky minerality. In Avize (20%), balance and structure. In Oger (20%), warmth, amplitude, and generosity. In Cramant, smoky minerality. In Chouilly, structure and length. Finally, in Oiry, acidity and roundness. Each terroir plays its part, and when performed in concert, it transcends this Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2014 champagne. It has aged on lees for six long years. This is but a short time compared to the power of this wine. Its richness is matched only by its concentration, yet it is ethereal. One even finds it generous… The supreme elegance of a wine built for aging!
The 2014 Vintage
After a mild and rainy autumn and winter, bud break was very early. Magnificent weather settled in during spring, with record sunshine and prevalent drought. Flowering bloomed favorably in early June. However, the scarcity of rainfall made us hope for rain. And we got it! The scenery changed completely over the summer: it rained abundantly, and August even brought "autumnal" temperatures. We had to wait until September for warm, sunny, and most importantly, very dry weather to return. These were ideal conditions for grape maturation. Chardonnay thrived, gaining power until harvest day, which began on September 11th for the Grand Crus of the Côte des Blancs. Spared from the parasitic outbreaks that occurred here and there in Champagne, our Chardonnays displayed exceptional cluster weights - over 150 grams - a comfortable yield, well-marked acidity, and optimal ripeness. The erratic weather of the season did not deter the long career that awaits Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2014.
