Champagne JACQUESSON Cuvée 746 Extra Brut

The concept of Cuvée 700 is unique in Champagne and is the opposite of a non-vintage brut. We are looking for excellence rather than consistency (which non-vintage bruts usually seek), respecting the character of the vintage rather than denying it, and highlighting a great wine rather than maintaining a style. Reserve wines are added to enhance complexity without obscuring the character of the base year. Cuvée 700 is a blend of several years and therefore cannot be identified by the mention of a single one: the choice of a number was essential, and rather than inventing one from scratch, we preferred to highlight the production number that the Cuvée bears in our bottling records. Cuvée N° 1 was created by the House in 1898 to celebrate its first centenary. And it is from Cuvée N° 728, made from the 2000 harvest, that the adventure began for us.

Cuvée 700 comes from our three Grands Crus and our two Premiers Crus; it is made exclusively from the first press juice, and it is vinified in large oak vats, almost always without filtration, making it above all a Grand Vin de Champagne. It naturally has remarkable aging potential, which is why we offer it with two different maturation periods ("normal" and "Late Disgorgement").

2018, our harvest in Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers (68%), Avize and Oiry (32%): the winter was exceptionally rainy and the spring mild and stormy. The weather changed from June, becoming fine and dry, leading to a particularly early harvest: we began picking on August 30th and finished on September 11th.
The sanitary condition was perfect, the harvest abundant with very good maturity and moderate acidity. The wines obtained are particularly fine and elegant.
